On Sunday 12th March I saw Chelsea Wolfe play at the Deaf Institute in Manchester with one of my absolute best friends Em, who has pretty much the best music taste of all of them. There was definitely no one else to ask when we found out Chelsea Wolfe was playing. She was absolutely wonderful, the juxtaposition of her beautiful voice and the haunting melodies and sounds is something to be reckoned with. Not only did she perform some of the songs from her astounding Unknown Rooms, her & her band mastered some eerie, heavy stuff too. Surprisingly heavy, much more so than I was expecting and to my absolute delight. They did a noise jam that gave me genuine butterflies. The paradox of her mesmerising voice and the heartbreaking heaviness of the music (cleverly even in the acoustic songs) was perfect. We were so glad to have met her; her huge fur coat, elegant silhouette and American accent completed and contrasted her charming demeanour.
